Building

Hi friends and partners,
The word build means to construct, to increase, and to enlarge. There are several accounts from the Bible where God told someone to build. He told Adam and Eve to build a family, so that they could increase and enlarge their family. He told Noah to build an ark for the purpose of constructing a shelter of safety for his family and animal passengers. He told Gideon to build an army, and Samson to build Him a temple. The list goes on and on and on. There was work involved in all this building. If you plan to construct, increase or enlarge there is going to work and effort put forth.

With the help of partners like you, 2 illuminate ministries has been busy building. We have been building an international Sunday school resource for children’s ministry. This resource is a Christian children’s book series, called The Missionary Dogs.

The Missionary Dog book series is an ongoing work that we are building. We are pioneering something new and that takes time and a good foundation. Jesus taught in the New Testament about building on a sandy foundation or a solid one. In the natural this is true; a poor foundation will not withstand the storms. But spiritually this is true as well. Without abiding in Him and using your faith, in the spiritual what you try to build with wash away as well. I am so thankful for my faith and that it has anchored me through the storms of this project.

I wanted to share with you a quick break down of what is involved with this project. To complete this goal there is a two-step process. First, publishing the materials in English, and secondly, translating into another language. In between the publishing and translating there is a lot of work involved. To build a book requires writing the manuscript, editing the manuscript, finding an artist and purchasing artwork, building the book digitally, and uploading the book to the printer. Also, there is a specific process for designing the front and back covers. At last the printing takes place. Then the process for translating begins. Finding a translator can be a lot trickier than you would expect. Finding someone willing to translate a children’s book has been a long-time search. For the translating part, we have to work with a team to translate the initial work. That is time-consuming. A lot of questions and work go into this process. The text is translated and then it needs to be edited. After the initial translation is completed, then we start building the translated book. For this step, you cannot just replace the English for the translated text. For example, some of the translated sentences are longer or shorter than the English version would be. So, the spacing and formatting has to be done again.

That’s just a little bit of the work that has been going on for quite some time now. We are making progress and the end is in sight.

Jesus command the church to build the kingdom of God by fulfilling the Great Commission. With our partners we are building the kingdom by sending the gospel so that it can be heard, received and acted upon.

Sincerely,
Reverend Sarah
